Santiago Calatrava Valls (born July 28, 1951) is an internationally recognized and award-winning Valencian Spanish architect, sculptor and structural engineer whose principal office is in Zurich, Switzerland. Classed now among the elite designers of the world, he has offices in Zurich, Paris and Valencia. Calatrava was born in Benimámet, an old municipality now integrated as an urban part of Valencia, Spain, where he pursued undergraduate studies at the Architecture School and Arts and Crafts School. Jose Rafael Moneo Valles (born May 9, 1937) is a Spanish architect. He was born in Tudela, Spain, and won the Pritzker Prize for architecture in 1996. He studied at the ETSAM, Technical University of Madrid (UPM) from which he received his architectural degree in 1961. From 1958 to 1961 he worked in the office in Madrid of the architect Francisco Javier Saenz de Oiza. Josep Lluis Sert i Lopez (1902—1983) was a Spanish architect from Catalonia. Born in Barcelona, he showed keen interest in the works of his uncle, the painter Josep Maria Sert and of Gaudi. He studied architecture at the Escola Superior d'Arquitectura in Barcelona and set up his own studio in 1929.
